BERGMAN, Toni C. (Brunner)

BERGMAN - Toni C. (nee Brunner)
Age 85, passed away May 19, 2015 in the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem, NC, following a short illness. A Buffalo native, she and her late husband, Alfred M., lived for many years in Eden, NY, before retiring to southwest Florida in 1984. Upon her husband's death in 2012, Mrs. Bergman moved to Bermuda Run, NC to be near her two daughters. In 1952, she helped her husband establish Darrt Amusement Inc., an entertainment and music company that has grown to be one of the largest of its kind in New York state. It is still under family control. She was an avid world traveler and was a dedicated Buffalo Bills fan since the team came into existence in 1960. Upon her move to North Carolina, one of the first things she did was to find a sports bar that carried the Bills Sunday games. "But their chicken wings are terrible," she confided to friends. She was a dedicated lover of horses and owned several while living in Eden. She nurtured both of her daughters love of the equestrian life style and both became award-winning riders as she ferried them both around the Northeast, trailering their horses behind her big green International Harvester truck. The love of horses was a lifetime affair and one daughter turned that love into a career, becoming part owner of a riding stable in North Carolina. At a late age, Toni became an artist. She had begun painting decades ago, but only in the last few years did she find time to pursue the art with the dedication she felt it deserved. The possessions left behind that are most treasured by her children, are a number of paintings she completed in the last several years. She is survived by sons Randall (Suzanne), David and Robert (Leanne), as well as her daughters, Robin (Buck Early) and Leslie (Mike Dowd). Also left behind are six grandchildren, three sisters, one brother and many nieces, nephews and friends. A Memorial Service will be scheduled for early September in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Toni's name to or the Kevin Guest House.
