Ohio woman injured when car hits her motorcycle in Ripley

RIPLEY – A 60-year-old Ohio woman was flown to Hammot Hospital in Erie, Pa. for treatment of injuries she suffered when a 21-year-old Westfield man struck her motorcycle as she was trying to turn into a driveway Friday afternoon on Route 20 in Ripley, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office reported

Linda S. Vandergrift, of Minerva, Ohio, was two vehicles ahead of Byron I Barger’s car as they both headed east. She attempted a left hand turn just as Barger was trying to pass the other two vehicles. Barger’s car struck the back of the motorcycle, sending Vandergrift to the ground.

Barger was ticketed for interfering with the safe operation of a roadway and Vandergrift was ticketed for failing to wear a helmet.
