North Tonawanda man charged with choking his mother

LOCKPORT – A North Tonawanda man who allegedly choked his mother after an argument April 8 pleaded not guilty Friday in Niagara County Court.

Duane E. Andrews, 39, of Oliver Street, was indicted on a charge of second-degree strangulation. Assistant District Attorney Cheryl L. Nichols said Andrews had been staying with his mother in North Tonawanda for a few days, but an argument erupted when his mother told him to leave. The woman was bruised but did not require hospitalization, Nichols said.
