Ch. 2 adding meteorologist from Minneapolis

Channel 2 is adding another meteorologist, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

The paper added that Patrick Hammer, who was let go from KTSP in that Minnesota city about a year and a half ago, announced his move on Twitter.

Hammer recently had been doing some fill-in work at KARE in the Minneapolis-St. Paul market. Like Channel 2, KARE is owned by Gannett. However, it is a much bigger market. It is No. 15 in the country, Buffalo No. 52. If KARE sounds familiar, it is because that’s where former Channel 4 anchor-reporter Lou Raguse is now working.

In his tweet, Hammer wrote: “Totally fired up. My wife and family wanted to be buried in blue sky. So Buffalo it is. Not goodbye just a new hello.”

According to a source who confirmed that Hammer is joining Channel 2, the meteorologist will be saying hello to Buffalo sometime later this month. It isn't immediately clear what newscast or newscasts he will be working on.
