LOCKPORT – A woman followed her stolen car early Wednesday until deputies picked up the pursuit and subsequently took three teenagers into custody, according to the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office.
The victim, who had reported her car stolen Tuesday to City of Lockport police, called 911 at about 2 a.m. Wednesday to report that she was following it along South Transit Road, deputies said.
After it was determined the car actually was in the Town of Lockport, patrols were dispatched to the area of Robinson and South Transit roads. When a deputy attempted to stop the car on Glendale Drive, it pulled to the side of the road and its four occupants fled.
A 13-year-old boy was taken into custody and deputies eventually caught up with a 13-year-old girl, as well as a 19-year-old man from Buffalo.
The two juveniles were issued tickets to appear at the Lockport Probation Department on a charge of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, and were released to their parents.
Daryl A. Smith, 19, of Buffalo, was charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and one count of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. He’s in the county jail in lieu of $500 bail.
Deputies said the fourth occupant has been identified and a warrant will be sought for her arrest.
