A 51-year-old suspect in a Los Angeles County homicide was taken into custody near the Ripley Toll Barrier of the state Thruway, State Police reported.
Michael J. McGlothan of Canyon Country, Calif., was taken into custody without incident at about 4 p.m. Monday, police said. He was arraigned in Dunkirk Town Court on a fugitive from justice charge and was sent to the Chautauqua County Jail pending an extradition hearing.
According to media reports out of California, McGlothan is accused of the May 6 shooting death of a 21-year-old man with whom he shared an apartment. A 30-year-old woman who also lived in the apartment suffered a gunshot wound to the shoulder.
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
McGlothan, who also uses the name Michael Batiste, stopped reporting for work as a long-distance truck driver after the killing, according to a detective for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
