Where: Scotiabank Convention Centre, 6815 Stanley Ave., Niagara Falls, Ont.
What: This three-day pop culture festival is taking over 200,000 square feet of the convention center and includes guest appearances from movie and TV celebrities, wrestlers, artists and writers; panels and seminars; photo ops; movie screenings; memorabilia; a cosplay contest; and gaming.
Tickets: $25 general, free for ages 10 and younger with adult. VIP tickets also available.
TV and movies: The lengthy list of celebrities includes David Hasselhoff, Ryan Hurst (“Sons of Anarchy”), Manu Benett (“Arrow,” “Spartacus”), Scott Wilson (“The Walking Dead”), Nichelle Nichols (“Star Trek”), Billy Dee Williams (“Star Wars”), Margo Kidder, Kristy Swanson, Colin Baker (“Doctor Who”), Alfonso Ribeiro, the Iron Sheik and legendary makeup artist Tom Savini. A “Goonies” reunion is planned with stars Sean Astin, Robert Davi and Joe Pantoliano.
Comic book fans: More than 85 featured artists, writers and independent publishers, including Poorman Comics, Spent Pencils, writers Gerry Conway and James O’Barr (“The Crow”) and artists Darwyn Cooke and David and Meredith Finch.
Horror fans: The “Falls Horror Fest” is 5,000 square feet of exhibits, workshops, movie props, costumes and celebrities.
Plan: This is a major convention and will be crowded. Check the online schedule and make a plan. Arrive early and get in line for the celebrity you most want to see. The “divide and conquer” tactic works best if you want multiple autographs by splitting up your group to hit different lines.
Tickets: Avoid the lines and buy in advance online via the main website. Tickets are cash-only at the door.
Money: Bring cash (American money is accepted at par). ATMs will be available.
