National insurance brokerage Confie Seguros has struck again in Western New York, buying up a Rochester-based agency with a Cheektowaga office.
The Huntington Beach, Calif.-based firm, which has grown rapidly through acquisitions since it was formed in 2008, bought Eastern General Insurance Services Inc., a family-owned auto insurance agency with four locations in the Rochester area and one at the Walden Plaza in Cheektowaga. The smaller agency was started in the early 1980s.
Confie also bought Bronx, N.Y.-based R&R&R Brokerage Inc., another auto insurance agency, which was founded in 1979 and gives the larger firm its first downstate New York location. And it purchased Colyer Insurance Agency Inc. of San Antonio, which has sold personal lines policies for over 35 years, to expand its presence in that market.
Confie, which is owned by private-equity firm ABRY Partners and targets Hispanic customers in particular, has now acquired more than 80 businesses since its launch. It now has annual revenues of over $350 million and over 660 locations, including 60 in upstate New York, and is seeking to add as many as 10 additional agencies in Western New York by yearend. It also operates in California, Arizona, Texas, Florida, Washington, Oregon, New Jersey, Nevada, Illinois, Alabama, Kansas, Wisconsin, South Carolina, Missouri, Louisiana and Indiana, and is expanding in Georgia, Virginia and North Carolina.
