It’s wonderful to see premier soccer in city
I recently attended my first FC Buffalo match at Robert Rich Sr. All High Stadium, right in the heart of the city. As my friends and I walked toward the stadium, I could hear the pounding of the drums and chants rising from the crowd and my heart quickened to the beat. I was excited to see some soccer and to see how Buffalo has embraced yet another sports team.
I take pride in being invested in all things that are Buffalo, and this is another moment where I can show my support for the city that I love as well as a sport that I have played since I was 5 years old. I was overjoyed to see roughly 1,200 people in attendance who had that same attitude. Young and old alike, there was electricity in the air throughout the entire match. It was something special, something I can’t articulate very well other than saying, “You had to be there.”
Finally, I wanted to commend efforts on both the Buffalo School Board and FC Buffalo for ensuring such an amazing local sporting event occurs within the city on a regular basis. This type of communal effort and working together speaks volumes for what lies ahead for Buffalo, and I’m hopeful that support for this team will continue to grow. As its motto goes, we are “For Our City” and I look forward to being a part of this movement for years to come.
