When the Buffalo Bisons and Indianapolis Indians last met, it was the Indians sweeping the three-game series. The Bisons managed just 10 runs in those three games.
Monday night, the Herd busted out for 12 runs on 17 hits en route to a 12-3 win over the Indians at Victory Field.
Big night for A.J.: Bisons catcher A.J. Jimenez drove in three runs on a 2 for 4 night. He had a two-run single in the first and an RBI single in the fifth.
Barton finds his groove: Daric Barton went 2 for 4,d rove in one run and scored three in his second game with the Herd. The veteran of 534 games with Oakland from 2007-14 started the season on the disabled list and played four games with Double-A New Hampshire before joining the Bisons on May 30.
Other key hitters: Ramon Santiago drove in two runs and went 2 for 5 in his first game with the Herd. Dalton Pompey scored all three times he got on base, once via a triple and twice by drawing walks.
More hits for Hague: Matt Hague went 3 for 5 and scored twice for the Herd. He now has four straight multi-hit performances, going 9 for 14 since Friday.
Triple play: With runners on first and second and no outs, the Buffalo Bisons defense turned a triple play in the fifth inning. Pedro Florimon hit a line drive back to pitcher Randy Wolf. Wolf fired the ball to second baseman Ramon Santiago who turned the play to first baseman Daric Barton to double off the runners.
Back in the win column: Starter Randy Wolf suffered his first loss of the season last week to the Indians at Coca-Cola Field. He bounced back with an impressive outing. He retired the first eight batters and battled through some adversity late to pick up the win. He gave up just two runs, only one earned, on seven hits. He walked one, struck out three and threw 61 of his 97 pitches for strikes.
Roster moves: Pitcher Todd Redmond was activated to the Bisons roster while righty Austin Bibens-Dirkx was placed on the disabled list retroactive to May 31. Also activated off the disabled list for the first time this season was infielder Ramon Santiago.
Rainout rescheduled: Sunday's rainout against Rochester has been rescheduled as part of a single-admission doubleheader on Aug. 11 at Coca-Cola Field. The seven-inning twinbill will begin at 5:35 p.m.
Pitchers of record: Randy Wolf went to 4-1 with with the win, giving up two runs (one earned) on seven hits in 5 1/3 innings of work. Chris Volstad (3-2) took the loss giving up six runs on 10 hits in five innings.
