A year in jail for Niagara Falls man in beating

LOCKPORT – A Niagara Falls man who broke a man’s jaw by hitting him with a shovel during a robbery attempt in that city last year was sentenced to a year in Niagara County Jail Monday by County Judge Matthew J. Murphy III.

Darius L. Washington, 45, of 19th Street, had pleaded guilty to third-degree assault for his role in the May 2, 2014, incident. Christina L. John, 32, of 19th Street, who was charged with luring the victim into a Spruce Avenue apartment for the robbery, previously was sentenced to seven months in jail.
