Proposed new regulations on tree conservation will be up for a public hearing when the Town Board meets this week.

In recent years, residents have complained about “clear cutting” by developers building new housing subdivisions. The proposed regulations require approval by town officials for a variety of scenarios.

Hearings on that ordinance, as well as another dealing with personnel-related issues – including mandatory drug-testing, will be held when the board meets at 7 p.m. Monday in Council Chambers at Town Hall, 1250 Union Road.

This week:

• A Town Board work session is at 3 p.m. Monday in Council Chambers.

• The West Seneca School Board meets at 5:30 p.m. Monday in West Senior High School, 3330 Seneca St., where retiring employees will be recognized.

• Main Street Marketplace will be open from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday on the grassy hill at Union Road and Main Street, adjacent to Town Hall. Local entertainment will be featured from 5:30 to 7 p.m., weather permitting. In case of wet weather, vendors move to the parking lot at the nearby ice rink.

• Registration is under way for the second annual West Seneca Community 5K Run/Walk, which will be held June 25. Register online at or visit the race website at
