POLAND – After a brief chase into the woods in the Town of Poland, Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies were able – with the help of a K9 dog named Drago – to track down and arrest a man on charges of assault and child endangerment Saturday night, according to the Chautauqua County Sherriff’s Office.
Dunkirk resident Dennis Wallace, 37, ran into the woods before officers arrived at the Eccles Road residence, deputies said. Drago and the deputies found Wallace in the woods hiding behind a tree.
He was charged with third-degree assault, second-degree strangulation, endangering the welfare of a child and third-degree criminal mischief. He was arraigned in court and remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail on bail.
