Lighter may hold clues to fall crematorium break-in

NIAGARA FALLS – Four people are seen on surveillance video breaking into the crematorium of Oakwood Cemetery, police said Friday, but the only thing missing is a ledger in a three-ring binder.

The break-in occurred sometime over a 24-hour period beginning at 8:30 p.m. Thursday, according to police. An employee of the Portage Road cemetery told police he found the crematorium door open, but the door lock still engaged. Police said there were no signs of forced entry. Police said they are examining a cigarette lighter found outside the door for possible clues.
