May 29, 1980: The line wraps around the Aud for 'Annie'

All winter long, Jim Schoenfeld was the Aud’s favorite redhead. For the 1979-80 regular season, Schoeny lead the NHL in plus/minus, and the Sabres had won more regular season games than any other team in the league.

But the Sabres' playoff hopes were dashed for the season by the last week of May in 1980, and the Aud had a new favorite redhead — at least for a day.

Folks lined up for to buy tickets for the Tony-winning musical "Annie" — which was set to open at Shea’s in Buffalo on June 24.
