LOCKPORT – A bench warrant was issued Friday for a Niagara Falls woman who didn’t show up for sentencing for her assault of a nurse at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center.
Jessica Placek, of Woodlawn Avenue, was scheduled to be sentenced by Judge Sara Sheldon in Niagara County Court.
Placek pleaded guilty to attempted second-degree assault in February for the attack that occurred in April 2014. At the time she pleaded guilty, Sheldon ordered Placek be screened for mental health court.
The judge at that time also accepted a recommendation from the Niagara County District Attorney’s Office that would reduce the charge to a misdemeanor if Placek was accepted into mental health court and successfully completed a treatment program.
Barring that, Placek was to face up to four years in prison.
