Amherst man charged after Buffalo police find 33 bags of heroin

A 24-year-old Amherst man was arrested Wednesday night in connection with a police search that yielded 33 bags of heroin.

Buffalo narcotics detectives executed a search warrant on a 2012 Honda vehicle on the 300 block of Seneca Street and discovered the heroin and more than a half ounce of an unknown brown powder in the trunk of the car, according to police.

Simran Virk, of Maple Road, was charged with intent to sell a narcotic drug and intent to sell a stimulant, hallucinogen or another substance. He also faces a count of criminal use of drug paraphernalia. Virk has previously been convicted on charges of selling controlled substances.
