Arrested for attempted rape after allegedly forcing his way into woman’s home

A 19-year-old St. Mary’s Road man was arrested late Wednesday night on attempted rape and other charges after allegedly forcing his way into the home of a McCarley Walk woman after asking her if he could use her phone.

Jamie R. Thomas was arrested at the scene by Police Officers Ana Mojica and Eric Augustyn after the woman’s screams reportedly led to calls to police. The woman told officers that when she refused to let Thomas use her phone he pushed his way into her house and tried to rape her with her near two-year-old daughter nearby. Thomas remained jailed Thursday on charges of first-degree attempted rape, second-degree burglary and endangering the welfare of a child.
