Falls man accepts plea offer in domestic violence case

LOCKPORT – A Niagara Falls man agreed to a plea offer in a domestic violence case Wednesday in Niagara County Court.

Shawn M. Lydic, 35, of 19th Street, pleaded guilty to second-degree attempted assault before Judge Sara Sheldon and admitted that he had attempted to cause serious physical injury to a woman in a domestic incident in North Tonawanda. Lydic, who also accepted a stay-away order, also faces charges on an unrelated domestic violence case in Erie County and was ordered held on $5,000 bail until he is sentenced on Aug. 26.

Sheldon told Lydic that the maximum jail time he could face for the non-violent felony is one and a third to four years in prison.
