A Memorial Day ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday (today) at Evans Town Hall, 8787 Erie Road, Angola.

The Town of Evans Veterans’ Committee is coordinating the event and invites all veterans and the public to pay tribute to those who have lost their lives while serving in the military. 

Roger Woodworth, President and CEO of Veterans One Stop, will be keynote speaker. Local officials will participate in the ceremony.

This week:

• A Memorial Day service will begin at 10 a.m. Monday in the East Eden Cemetery. The parade will follow at 11:02 a.m. from Laing Funeral Home at 2724 W. Church St. to the Eden Evergreen Cemetery at 2862 E. Church St.

• Eden Conservation Board members plan to meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday on the Town Hall’s second floor at 2795 E. Church St.

• The Eden Planning Board’s meeting is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday on the Town Hall’s second floor.

• The Eden Town Board’s meeting is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Wednesday on the Town Hall’s first floor.

• The Springville Concord Elder Network has planned spring activities. To view the list, visit the town government’s website at and click “upcoming events” or call the organization at 592-7599.

• A Memorial Day tradition will return to the Town of Boston as the unofficial kickoff to summer will start with a concert by the Boston Town Band.

The concert will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, May 25 at Boston Town Park, which kicks off the band’s 2015 concert schedule, that also includes a return to Boston Town Park on the 4th of July for a concert at 8 p.m., followed by fireworks.

• The Lakeshore School Board will hold a regular meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday inside of the Library Media Center at Lake Shore High School, 959 Beach Road, Angola.
