MEDINA – The Medina Fire Department battled a fire that heavily damaged a coin laundry on Starr Street shortly after 2 a.m. Saturday.
Fire officials said the fire at Washboard Willy’s, Starr and Main streets, was reported about 2:20 a.m. When firefighters arrived, they found the single-story building filled with smoke and fire, which soon burned through the roof. It took 30 minutes to bring the blaze under control.
No one was injured. Medina crews were assisted by firefighters from Shelby and Lyndonville, with East Shelby on standby.
What triggered the fire has yet to be determined. Damage was estimated at $50,000 to the building and $25,000 to contents.
