LOCKPORT – Louis A. Farina, a member of the Lockport Fire Department for 29 years, was promoted from captain to assistant chief by the Fire Board Thursday night.
Chief Patrick K. Brady also announced Friday that Capt. Thomas E. Lupo received a provisional appointment as assistant chief, a rank he will hold until Assistant Chief Matthew O. Streckewald returns from sick leave. Lupo, a 22-year veteran, and Farina both had been captains since 2006.
The board also promoted two men from lieutenant to captain, Brady said. John F. Sakowski, a 20-year veteran, and Joseph M. Prica, a 19-year member, received the promotions. Both had been lieutenants since 2006.
Brady said a third promotion to captain is needed to fill the spot he vacated to become chief, and two firefighters are to be promoted to lieutenant. The Fire Board will make its choices at its next meeting June 8.
