Buffalo man gets five-year term for gun, drug counts

Waving a gun around at a party while carrying 19 packets of illegal drugs has earned a Buffalo man a five-year prison sentence.

Keith Mixon, 23, was sentenced Friday by Senior U.S. District Judge William M. Skretny on his conviction of possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug-trafficking crime.

Mixon was arrested in April 2013 when police responded to a call of a man brandishing a gun at a party on Newburgh Avenue. When Buffalo police officers responded, they discovered Mixon had packets of methylone, also known as bath salts, on him, along with a .40 caliber Glock handgun.

The case was handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Wei Xiang.
