Man’s body found in wooded area in Lockport

LOCKPORT – City police are awaiting the results of an autopsy on the body of a man found by city street workers who were repairing a sewer drain behind the Wide Waters Marina on Market Street about 2 p.m. Thursday.

The body was found in a wooded area behind the marina. Detective Lt. Todd Chenez said the name of the man is being withheld until the coroner’s office can notify his next of kin. The autopsy will provide the cause of death and allow the investigation to continue, Chenez said. Lockport police were assisted at the scene by the Niagara Falls Police Crime Scene Unit and the Lockport Fire Department, he added.
