Former credit union worker arrested in on-line scheme

A former employee of the Erie County Employees Credit Union has been charged with felony grand larceny counts by the Erie County Sheriff’s Office for allegedly stealing over $30,000 from the non-government business through an on-line scheme.

Susan Johnson, 42, of Elma, was arrested Tuesday by lead Detective Daniel Brinkerhoff following an investigation that began last December after officials of the credit union alerted Sheriff Timothy B. Howard of suspicious activity with the pre-paid Visa card of one of its employees.

Johnson is accused of using an on-line scheme to transfer funds into her own account and then quickly withdrawing the funds to try to prevent the suspicious fund transfers from becoming noticeable.
