Amherst police and other town and county agencies will conduct an emergency response drill at Williamsville High School at 1595 Hopkins Road started at about 1:30 p.m. Friday, the department announced Thursday. The drill will test the school’s emergency plans to simulate and deal with an emergency situation inside the high school. The drill will also involved activities at the nearby Casey Middle School and at the Williamsville Central School District office.
Though a considerable amount of emergency response activity is planned to take place around the high school police officials said they expect only minimal impact on traffic in that area. Also taking part in the drill will be units from the Town of Amherst Emergency Services Department, the Getzville Fire Department, Twin City Ambulance and an Erie County government emergency response unit.
