LOCKPORT – The Mr. and Miss Lockport contest submission deadline, which was to hav ebeen Friday, has been extended to June 1, the Lockport Sesquicentennial Committee announced Thursday.
The committee is seeking Lockport residents in their 20s to represent the city and serve as the faces of the 150th birthday celebration June 27 to July 5.
Assignments will include serving as the grand marshals of the city’s Independence Day parade, as food judges at the Taste of Lockport, and as kickball players on “Team City Hall.” Applicants must be available during the nine days of the sesquicentennial but are not required to attend all the events. Selfies and brief essays emailed to Lockport150@gmail.com by noon June 1 will be voted on by the public on the Lockport 150 Facebook page. Self-submissions are allowed, as are nominations of friends or family.
