BEMUS POINT – The body of a fisherman reported missing a week ago was recovered early Thursday in Chautauqua Lake by Bemus Point firefighters, Chautauqua County Sheriff Joseph Gerace reported.
The body of David R. Spink, 64, of Varysburg, was recovered at approximately 6:45 a.m.
Spink was last seen the evening of May 13, as he left Camp Prendergast for a planned night of fishing on Chautauqua Lake with a friend. He failed to show up near Magnolia, where he was to pick up his friend, and his family reported him missing the next day after being unable to contact him.
Spink’s unoccupied boat was discovered on shore at Long Point State Park, and his truck and empty boat trailer were recovered at the Prendergast Point Public Boat Launch.
