Last year: Adam Scott completed the Texas Slam when he won at Colonial with a 7-foot birdie putt to beat Jason Dufner on the third playoff hole. The Aussie collected his 11th victory on the PGA Tour, including one in all four events in Texas – the Colonial, the Valero Texas Open (2010), the Shell Houston Open (2007) and what is now the AT&T Byron Nelson Championship (2008). Scott, who ascended to the No. 1 spot in the World Golf Rankings a week earlier, closed with his second straight 6-under-par 66, carding seven birdies and overcoming a double-bogey 6 on the ninth hole. Dufner also finished with a 66, forcing the playoff when he sank a 25-foot birdie putt on the 72th hole.

Last Year: Colin Montgomerie of Scotland, considered one of the best players who never won a major championship on the PGA Tour, claimed his first victory in the United States and made it a Champions Tour major to boot. The 51-year-old closed with a 6-under-par 65 at Harbor Shores in Benton Harbor, Mich., to win by four strokes over Tom Watson, 64, who also finished with a 65. Montgomerie, who won 43 times previously around the world, earned his first victory as a senior and his first anywhere in seven years. He claimed his first senior major title in his fifth attempt, after going 0-for-71 in PGA and European tour Grand Slam events. Monty came back later in the year to win the U.S. Senior Open in a playoff over Gene Sauers at Oak Tree National in Edmond, Okla.

Last Year: Stacy Lewis collected her 10th victory on the LPGA Tour by closing with a 4-under-par 67 to win by six strokes over Christina Kim, winning the tournament for the second time in three years. After opening with a 67, Lewis took the lead for good with a bogey-free 63 in the second round that included four birdies on each nine, coming home in 4-under 30. Lewis, who also won the ShopRite in 2012 by four shots over Katherine Hull of Australia, took the No. 1 spot in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings with the 2014 victory, unseating Inbee Park of South Korea, who was on top for the previous 69 weeks.
