NIAGARA FALLS – A 24-year-old Niagara Falls man who is to have been one of the victims of a two-vehicle shootout Monday in the 2700 block of Highland Avenue remained in good condition Tuesday at the Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo, and the driver of one of the vehicles was in custody on unrelated charges as the probe of the shooting continued, Detective Lt. Michael Trane reported Tuesday.
Niagara Falls police responded after reports of the shootout between two cars was reported about 6:30 p.m. Monday. Police found the 24-year-old man shot in the buttocks. He was taken to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center and then transferred to the Buffalo trauma hospital where he is expected to fully recover, Trane said.
Trane would not identify the shooting victim but he confirmed that the man driving of one of the cars involved in the shootout was arrested a short time later.
That driver, Shannon Lightfoot, 27, of Garden Avenue, Niagara Falls, remained in custody on charges unrelated to the shootout, Trane said. No one had been charged in connection with the shootout but the investigation, including Lightfoot’s involvement in the incident, is ongoing, the detective said. Anyone with any information about it is asked to contact Niagara Falls Police Department detectives at 286-4553.
