LOCKPORT – Briody Health Care Facility, a family-owned Lockport nursing home in business since 1946, has been sold to Maximus Healthcare of New Jersey, administrator Ann Briody Petock announced Tuesday.
Maximus is the same company that purchased the 175-bed Newfane Rehabilitation and Health Care Center from Eastern Niagara Hospital in November.
Briody, which has 82 beds, employs about 160 people, Petock said. She will continue to work as the administrator of the Lincoln Avenue facility. The sale price was not disclosed.
“Being a single facility has become increasingly difficult in the current regulatory and reimbursement environment and we feel that Maximus will be able to provide greater strength and resources,” Petock said, adding that she sees the move as “a very positive transition.”
She said Maximus will be making substantial investments to upgrade the facility, including modernizing all common areas and residents’ rooms and enhancing the existing rehabilitation program with new equipment.
