A grant of $11,200 from the Community Foundation of Greater Buffalo will allow Gateway-Longview Behavioral Health Clinic to expand its services to three more Buffalo schools, the agency reports.
The clinic, which provides counseling and psychiatry services to children and families, currently serves eight schools in Buffalo and three suburban districts.
Working with Say Yes to Education Buffalo, Gateway-Longview and other non-profit agencies hope to provide services to students in all Buffalo schools within the next two to three years.
“We were finding that youth often don’t get the critical counseling services they desperately need because they can’t get to an office, especially during the week,” says Kristy D’Angelo, director of behavioral health and community support services for Gateway-Longview. “Through this partnership, we come to them.”
