Priceline.com has named Buffalo one of its top 25 Memorial Day destinations.
The list is compiled using advance hotel reservation bookings. Buffalo landed in 25th place, up from its ranking at No. 45 last year.
Brian Ek, travel editor for Priceline.com, cited the city’s inexpensive daily room rates, which average less than $120 a night during the long weekend.
“This year’s results indicate that travelers see Buffalo as a compelling vacation value for Memorial Day,” Ek said in a release.
Ek also cited the region’s art, music, theater, nearby casinos and proximity to Niagara Falls as influencing factors.
“The area has something for everyone,” Ek said.
Topping the list was Las Vegas, Nev. In second place was San Diego, Calif., followed by Orlando, Fla., New York City and Chicago, Ill., respectively.
