A day of music in Hamburg

Since 2009, the Hamburg Music Festival has been blending community-based grassroots fundraising with a dedication to regional entertainment, food, the arts and culture, while simultaneously offering one of the most family-friendly festivals in our region’s summer season. In the past, the festival has used funds generated by the sale of admission wristbands to make donations to Big Tree Volunteer Firemen, Hamburg Central School District, Special Spaces Buffalo, Union Pleasant Elementary School, and the Warm the Children Foundation.

On Saturday, the 2015 edition of the Festival will kick off at 2 p.m., and will conclude with an 8:30 p.m. headlining set from Ron Hawkins & the Do-Good Assassins. In between, attendees will be treated to the likes of the Alison Pipitone Band, Hayden Fogle, the Ladies First Jazz Band, Susan Rozler & Mama Earth’s Kitchen, and the Union Pleasant Nursery School Singers. All of the outdoor musical action will take place at Memorial Park, corner of Lake and Union streets, but some 24 bars and restaurants in the area will also be participating and hosting live music throughout the day. (Craft brews and other adult beverages, as well as several local food trucks’ wares, will be available at Memorial Park.)

A $10 wristband grants attendees access to all of the day’s activities, including the headline shows at Memorial Park and the club, bar and restaurant gigs spread throughout the village during the afternoon and evening, as well as shuttle service between venues. Wristbands are available through hamburgmusicfestival.com.
