Local independent record store Spiral Scratch Records will close, at least temporarily.
“It is with great regret and sadness that we must report our landlord has purged us from our location. As a result, we will be temporarily closing until we find a proper location to serve you,” a statement on the store’s Facebook page said.
The store, at 291 Bryant St., has been a cornerstone of the independent music scene and a progenitor of the vinyl sales resurgence in our region since opening in 2008. Most recently, Spiral Scratch hosted a full roster of bands and entertainers during the annual Record Store Day, which celebrates the survival and growth of independent record stores around the world.
“We did not see this coming, but ultimately have no choice,” the Facebook statement continues. “Please stop in if you can and say ‘so long’ to 291 Bryant. Whatever is next, we thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for keeping us going this long.”
