Whirlpool Jet Boat opens for its 23rd season

LEWISTON – After one of the coldest winters on record, people can take a leap into summer with a ride through the lower Niagara River rapids aboard the Whirlpool Jet Boat Tours, which announced Wednesday that it has opened for a 23rd season.

“We’re thrilled to be back out in the water giving passengers an experience they can’t get anywhere else in the world,” said John Kinney, president of the company.

Whirlpool Jet Boat Tours has a fleet of eight 54-passenger jet boats that take passengers from the mouth of the Niagara River through the Devil’s Hole rapids to just below Niagara Falls. Boats depart from Niagara-on-the-Lake and Niagara Falls in Canada and from Lewiston.

Passengers can choose a wet or dry experience, but both rides power through the rapids. Tours last about one hour and along the way, tour leaders give passengers highlights about the river’s geology and history.

In addition to individual bookings, Whirlpool Jet Boat Tours also offers tour packages and corporate rates. More information is available at
