NIAGARA FALLS – Two masked men were reportedly shooting at a vehicle in the 2900 block of 22nd Street Sunday evening while the street were full of people gathered outside for a Mother’s Day party.
One woman said she was sitting on her porch at 5:40 p.m. and saw the masked men. She said when he heard the shooting she and her son quickly went inside. Once inside the 14–year–old boy found a laceration on the outside of his right calf and was unsure if he may have been grazed by a bullet.
A woman said she was outside with her grandchildren when they saw the shooters approaching. Police reported children as young as three had been outside when the shooting started.
Another witness said there were three people in the vehicle that was being shot at and said at least one had been shot as he fled.
Police reported that an unnamed victim, age 24, went into Mount St. Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston and reported that he had been shot on 22nd Street. He told Niagara Falls Police that he had been a passenger in the rear of the vehicle and was shot in the heel. He was taken to Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo for further treatment.
Another victim who went into Mount St. Mary’s Hospital with the man said she was grazed by a bullet in the shooting, but refused to stay to file a report with police.
