Jack Eichel has been part of the hockey lexicon for two years, but that doesn't mean the 18-year-old is done with awkward interviews.
Expected to be taken No. 2 overall by the Buffalo Sabres in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, Eichel took part in a lighthearted on-camera chat with Olga Khmylev, a behind-the-scenes reporter at the International Ice Hockey Federation World Championships in Prague.
Khmylev's last name may ring a bell -- she's from Williamsville, covered the Sochi Olympics for NBC, works for the HarborCenter Hockey Academy and is the daughter of former Sabres forward Yuri Khmylev.
As you can see from the video below from WNYorker.com's Facebook page, Khmylev attempts to make the video relatable for Sabres fans by holding a team t-shirt in front of an already sheepish-looking Eichel, before an off-screen person snatches the shirt away and closes the clip.
It would have been more fun to witness the 30 seconds following the "What are you doing?!" by the previously off-camera invader.
A reporter interviewing Jack Eichel at the 2015 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship caused a bit of a stir today after she held a Buffalo Sabres t-shirt in front of Jack to see how it looks. Then a PR guy grabs the t-shirt away from the reporter and is clearly upset she did it. Pretty funny!
