WHEELER - Betty Born August 3, 1917 in Buffalo, New York, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, May 10, 2015 at the age of 97. Betty (Kranichfeld) grew up in Buffalo, New York and during her youth worked in the local department store, Hens and Kelly's, where she met her future husband, Henry Wheeler. They married on May 21, 1942. While Henry was serving his country during World War II, Betty worked at Bell Aircraft Corporation constructing the P-39 Airacobra that was used in the war effort. Upon the ending of the war and Henry's return from Germany, they lived in Buffalo, New York and started a family. While raising 5 sons, Betty was also a great support to Henry as he founded and built Service Systems Corporation. In 1968, Betty moved to Fort Lauderdale to enjoy retirement in the sun with her husband and 5 sons. She was active at Pine Crest School where she was a founding member of The Founder's Council. In 1979, Betty moved with her family to Boca Raton where she was a member of St. Gregory's Episcopal Church. A loving mother and grandmother, and the most devoted, loving and supportive wife, she is survived by her husband of 73 years, Henry H Wheeler of Boca Raton, Florida; her five sons: Chris (Deanna) Wheeler of Village of Golf, Florida; Tim (Lauren) Wheeler of Gainesville, Florida; Bill Wheeler of Lake Worth, Florida; Jim (Lisa) Wheeler of Boca Raton, Florida; and Rob (Kim) Wheeler of Tallahassee, Florida; 14 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren, and her loving caregiver and friend Hazel Sanders. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to Pine Crest School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, attn.: the Wheeler Fund. A private family service will be held.
