Two firefighters were treated for what a police official called “heat-related issues” while battling a house fire in West Seneca Saturday afternoon.
The two-story house at 41 Kirkwood Drive was reported on fire at 2:09 p.m. Initial reports said flames were seen coming through the roof.
West Seneca Police Lt. Brian Cosgrove said the firefighters were treated at the scene and remained on duty. He said the damage to the home was “extensive,” but no one was home at the time.
The fire was declared extinguished at 3:15 p.m. The cause remains under investigation. Seneca Hose Company was assisted by other volunteer fire companies at the scene. Cosgrove did not know which fire company the men treated belonged to,
