Robert P. Richards, a sales executive at Advance 2000, died April 27 in Rochester after a brief illness. He was 53.
Mr. Richards, a resident of Williamsville, was a longtime commercial sales executive at Stereo Advantage before joining Advance 2000 in 2013. Bob, as he was known to his family and friends, placed a high priority on building loyal relationships with his co-workers and clients which he nurtured into lasting friendships.
Mr. Richards was raised in Kenmore and graduated from Kenmore West High School in 1979. He lettered in soccer, ice hockey and baseball for the Blue Devils. His brother, Dave, remembers him as a “natural athlete in any sport and a fierce competitor. He played every game like it was his last.”
He loved the Buffalo Bills and supported the team as a season ticket holder for many seasons. His love of soccer and ice hockey led him into coaching his sons’ youth teams in Amherst.
A lifelong passion for golf, Mr. Richards was a member of the Fox Valley Country Club for 20 years. He enjoyed vacationing in Florida with his family, and boating and jet-skiing at Niagara Sailing Club on Grand Island.
Survivors include his wife of 20 years, the former Elaine Bergmann; two sons, Tyler and Carter; his mother, Irene; and a brother, David.
A celebration of life will be held at 4 p.m. May 18 in Calvary Episcopal Church, 20 Milton St., Williamsville.
