It's no surprise that coveted junior college forward Maurice O'Field is visiting Arizona State this weekend.
O'Field, a Cleveland native, had given an oral commitment to the University at Buffalo in early March. But the fact he did not affirm his commitment with the Bulls when the national signing period opened last month signaled the likelihood he was going elsewhere. The Arizona State recruiting website, Sundevilsource, reported the visit.
O'Field was wooed by Maryland this season. UB would not have been in the running for him if not for the reputation of former coach Bobby Hurley, now at Arizona State. O'Field started his college career at East Tennessee State, where he sat out a season. He played for Midland College in Texas this past season.
