Woman accused of claiming name of a dead woman for cheaper rent

A 41-year-old Hempstead Avenue woman was arrested Tuesday on felony identity theft and other charges for allegedly claiming the name of a dead woman to get a lower rental charge from the Buffalo Municipal Housing Authority, according to a Buffalo police report.

Roslyn Jones was charged with first-degree identify theft, second-degree criminal impersonation and second-degree forgery for allegedly signing a BMHA lease contract “while posing as the deceased,” according to a police report which did not indicate the name of the dead woman.
