Victor Parra Gonzalez, the chef from Acapulco offering Mexican-influenced modern fare near Old Fort Niagara, is coming downtown for dinner next week.
On May 13, Gonzalez will be offering dinner in collaboration with Chef Mike Andrzejewski, at Bourbon & Butter, Andrzejewski’s fine dining restaurant in Hotel @ the Lafayette, 391 Washington St. [read the Bourbon & Butter review].
“I am beyond humbled and excited,” Gonzalez said. “I couldn't ask for more, as a young cook, (than) to work with him. It should be a night to remember.”
Gonzalez opened Jaguar at the Bistro [read its restaurant review here], 110 Main St., Youngstown, in November 2013. At first his menu was a blend of American standards and Mexican-inflected specials. This year he switched to a Mexican-dominated menu with American favorites. In March, Gonzalez won a match of the Nickel City Chef live cooking competition as a challenger.
The dinner is $70 plus tax and tip, with an optional $35 beverage pairing from Bourbon & Butter beverage director Tony Rials. Seating at 7:30 p.m. Valet parking available. Reservations: 253-6453.
