Springville-Griffith Institute Central School Superintendent Paul Connelly has decided to take vacation leave for family reasons, a School Board official confirmed on Tuesday.
Connelly will use vacation time until June 30, said Allison Duwe, Board of Education president, after the board’s meeting Tuesday night.
Connelly did not attend the meeting.
Ted Welch, business administrator, is serving as acting superintendent, at Connelly’s request, she added.
Reached Tuesday night at his home, Connelly said he “never” takes vacation time but felt the need to take some time off.
“In my contract, I’ve got a use-it-or-lose-it clause,” he said.
Duwe denied that the board is investigating Connelly or considering his dismissal.
She did not specify the reason for his leave.
“That would be speculation,” she said.
The superintendent is not contemplating a resignation, she added.
