NT man jailed for violating probation in felony DWI case

LOCKPORT – A North Tonawanda man was sentenced to a year in the Niagara County Jail Tuesday by State Supreme Court Justice Richard C. Kloch Sr. for violating the terms of probation on a felony driving while intoxicated conviction.

Christopher J. Ross, 34, of Wheatfield Street, had pleaded guilty in late 2012 and was placed on five years’ probation, which required him to avoid drinking and obtain substance abuse treatment.

Assistant Public Defender Luke A. Brown sought weekend jail time for Ross, whom he said is the sole provider for his wife and two daughters. Kloch, however, said Ross missed his chance to stay out of jail. “I look at you as someone who might kill somebody,” he told Ross, whose DWI arrest occurred April 28, 2012 in North Tonawanda.
