Emerling Ford is on a streak few other Ford dealers can match.
The Springville dealership won the Ford President’s Award for an 18th consecutive year. “It is quite an accomplishment that our employees work for,” said Carl Emerling, the dealership’s president.
Less than 10 percent of Ford’s roughly 3,100 U.S. dealers win the award each year, said Megan Pallischeck Carlini, regional sales manager for a territory that includes Buffalo. Ford chooses winners based on results of customer surveys about their sales and service performance. Emerling’s scores have remained high over an 18-year stretch, Carlini said.
Only three other Ford stores – none of them in this region – have won the President’s Award 18 straight times. Only five other Ford stores have won it more than 18 consecutive years, including a Chicago-area dealership with a 26-year streak, Carlini said.
Emerling Ford was established in 1986, when Carl Emerling bought a Ford franchise from Lloyd Lamb. Emerling moved the dealership to its current home on South Cascade Drive in 1989; it now employs 86 people, compared to 13 at the time of the acquisition. Four of those 13 employees still work for the dealership. The dealership’s annual sales have grown to $34 million, compared to $5.2 million in 1986, and the facility will soon undergo a modernization.
Two other Ford dealers in the region won the President’s Award this year: Ed Shults Ford Lincoln in Jamestown and Van Bortel Ford in East Rochester.
