LOCKPORT – Kewan D. Jackson, who pleaded guilty in January to assaulting a woman, was arraigned Tuesday in State Supreme Court on charges of dealing cocaine on Washburn Street in Lockport Aug. 21 and 25.
Jackson, 24, of East Avenue, Newfane, denied two counts each of third-degree sale and possession of a controlled substance.
Jackson is awaiting sentencing for attempted second-degree assault in the March 1, 2014, beating of a Lockport woman in a home on Washburn Street. The woman told police she was knocked out by Jackson’s punches to the head. Jackson wasn’t arrested until June 5, when police said they found him at the scene of another Lockport fight.
Assistant District Attorney Laura T. Bittner said the alleged drug deals occurred a few days after Jackson’s Aug. 13 arraignment on the assault charge. Justice Richard C. Kloch Sr. released Jackson on his own recognizance. He had been arrested on the drug charges Monday when he showed up for sentencing on the assault case, which was postponed.
