NIAGARA FALLS – The Niagara Falls School District will mark the ceremonial opening of its new $17 million athletic complex with an event at the facilities at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
The project included new playing surfaces for baseball, softball, soccer, lacrosse and football, as well as six tennis courts and a new 13,000-square-foot fieldhouse for wrestling, weight-lifting and other activities. Two new lanes were added to the track that surrounds the main, 1,500-seat field.
Most of the construction wrapped up last fall, and virtually all of the facilities behind Niagara Falls High School have already been in use. The state has told city school officials the Falls has the largest complex in the state.
In the case of rain, the event will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday.
