Florida man jailed in Batavia in March attacks on two children

BATAVIA – A 27-year-old Florida man was remanded to the Genesee County Jail here after he was arraigned Monday before Genesee County Judge Robert C. Noonan for allegedly sexually assaulting a 10-year-old Batavia girl and violently beating a 6-year-old Batavia child during an incident on W. Main Street here March 19.

Brandon Marshall Weig was recently found at a relatives house in Lakeland, Fla., and was extradicted to Genesee County.

He is being held in jail here without bail on two counts of second-degree aggravated sexual abuse, sex abuse of a child less than 11 years old and second-degree assault for the alleged 6-year-old victim, according to the Genesee County sheriff’s office. Weig also was wanted on a bench warrant in an unrelated Genesee County Court case for having failed to show up for sentencing in that case, officials said.
